NSW: Internet to to help teachers with improving literacy
SYDNEY, April 9 AAP - New South Wales teachers would be able to seek advice on literacy
issues on a new Internet website, the state government said today.
They will be able to exchange views, discuss issues and develop solutions to literacy
problems with experts on the website's discussion forum.
Education Minister John Aquilina said the site, called Literacy Line, would especially
benefit teachers and schools in rural and regional areas.
"Specialist literacy staff will share resources and literacy practices, through e-mail
postings, "chat" sessions and threaded discussions," Mr Aquilina said in a statement.
"District Literacy consultants provide targeted support to schools. They work with
teachers and principals to identify schools' literacy weaknesses and how they can be overcome."
