NSW: New security cameras for police stations
SYDNEY, April 12 AAP - Closed-circuit security cameras will be installed in a further
39 NSW police stations.
The new cameras mean 108 police stations will now have surveillance systems in police
charge rooms.
Many will be in country stations.
Police Minister John Watkins said the cameras would increase the security of police
as they processed offenders.
"The technology provides a silent witness to watch over their shoulder as they go about
their work," Mr Watkins said in a statement.
"It should reduce the number of vexatious complaints against police, because it's hard
to dispute the evidence caught on film.
